March 1st 2014 Brooklyn NY,
The team formally known as the Brooklyn Blackout, the New york Knights, had switched leagues and venue and recently played their season opener under the NABDLA New York league against new rivals the New York Lightning at The Brooklyn Stuy Dome. The game started off fairly matched with the score being 15-20 in favor of the Lightning after one qtr, Second qtr the Lightning blew it open led by Paul Scotland and Treymane Singleton to take a 48-60 lead at halftime. “Coach Mark Cook felt the urge to put a spark in his guys in the locker room” said the games leading scorer Kennan Belle (30pts,11rebs).

                                       Kennan Belle

" They did an outstanding job at making the in game adjustments. Also by giving us a motivational speech that allowed all of the players butterflies to go away. We were nervous and the coaching staff settled us down”. After that Deylon, Perry, and Gio were instrumental defensively The Knights started the third qtr on a 15-0 run and got right back in the game, Kennan had help from teammates Deylon Bovell (24pts,7rebs) who hit to big three pointers to pump his team up " Overall we played good with a lot of room for improvement. Our effort was definitely there as a team and that's always a plus. We could've gave up down 15", other contributors where Lloyd Antoine who had a double double with 11pts and 11rebs, and Nayquan Mitchell with 13 rebs and 6 points. Free throws(35-60) and turnovers(30) proved to be to much for the knights late in the game as they fell to a final score of 107-113, Coach Mark Cook said" I thought that we had a great opportunity to win the game but we started off to slow in the first quarter. I was proud of the way, we fought from down 15 points at halftime. Our comeback was fueled by our defense and rebounding. Yet, in the end, turnovers, foul trouble and missed free throws hurt us at the end of a game. I truly believe that we can overcome these errors in order to win our next game”.
